Today within the framework of the CNRS financed Gravity project, Olivier DAUTEUIL, Marc JOLIVET and Fils Vainqueur BYIRINGIRO installed a brand new Trimble Inc. Alloy GPS permanent station in Karongi District, Rwanda.
The station will be used as a permanent measurement station to monitor ground mouvement along the Kivu lake but also as a reference station to monitor landslides in the Karongi region. Data will be stored in Rwanda and made available freely to the international scientific community.
Olivier, Marc and Fils Vainqueur are grateful to the Ministry in Charge of Emergency Management of Rwanda for his help in obtaining the administrative permission to install the GPS Station in a school of the Karongi district.
